Benoit is an architect originally from Ottawa, Canada. He is licensed in the state of Massachusetts and practices largely in Ontario and Northern California. He is director of architecture at BuildCasa, an Oakland-based company leveraging pro-housing legislation to build entry-level homes in California. Additionally, he is currently a visiting critic at the Azrieli School of Architecture at Carleton University in Ottawa, where he teaches 4th-year undergraduate housing studio.

His work focuses primarily on residential projects across varied contexts of practice. He strives to imbue his work with a social consciousness that result in projects that are livable, sustainable and affordable. He leverages legislation and industry partnerships to lessen the cost of good design and the hurdles of construction.

Previously, Benoit worked for San Francisco tech start-up Cottage, helping scale their ADU business. Prior experience include positions with award-winning firm Kierantimberlake in Philadelphia, Bohlin Cywinski Jackson in San Francisco and Ottawa-based firm Hobin Architecture.
